Andrea Dunn, a registered dietitian, said that stomach problems like heartburn, reflux, or bloating could be caused by the acid or fat in coffee.
Dunn said that drinking caffeinated coffee makes the amount of acid in the stomach go up, which causes heartburn or reflux.
But caffeine has both good and bad things about it. “But there are a few ways to get rid of heartburn and its symptoms,” he says.
Why does coffee affect my stomach so much?
Acids in caffeine and coffee are mostly to blame for how coffee makes your stomach feel. How, though, is the question.
“Caffeine is a natural stimulant, but it also makes the digestive tract contract more and makes the stomach make more acid,” Dunn said.
Depending on the type of coffee you drink, it may have a lot of acids that help your body break down food faster. So, you will have to go to the bathroom more often.

1. Dark roast
Dark roast coffee tends to be less acidic because it doesn’t have as many compounds that make it acidic.
2. Espresso beans
Since making an espresso takes less time than making a cup of coffee, less acid gets into the cup.
3. Cold coffee
Cold brew coffee is made by letting ground coffee sit in cold water or at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. When coffee is steeped for a long time in cold water, it becomes less bitter and, as a result, less acidic.

Dunn said, “Today, you can find coffee brands that use beans that are less acidic than usual.”
5. Combinations of coffee with mushrooms or chicory
This is a new trend in the coffee business, and it tastes better than it sounds. Mushrooms are good for your health in many ways. One of these is that they reduce inflammation.
Since the 1800s, chicory has been used to make drinks. Chicory coffee comes from the roots of the same-named plant (fun fact: it is related to the dandelion). When these are roasted and ground, they make a drink that tastes a lot like coffee. You can also use ground mushrooms or radicchio on your own.
