One of the draws of Twitch is being able to see things unfold in real time, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished I could go back in time to see something or a moment I might have missed. Twitch, on the other hand, may have a remedy soon, as it’s currently testing a new Rewind the Stream option with some users.
Twitch tells The Verge that when you press the button, you’ll be rewinded two minutes in the stream. From there, just as with any other Twitch VOD, you can go through what’s been streamed thus far and even view what you missed at different speeds (video on demand).
You’ll still be able to see what’s going on in the live stream if you hit the rewind button, due to a picture-in-picture window that appears above the conversation. You won’t be able to use the rewind button if a streamer doesn’t have VODs enabled. According to Twitch, the rewind button test will be expanded to around a quarter of viewers in the following days.
Twitch is also experimenting with two more buttons. According to the firm, the Remind Me button will send you a reminder for an upcoming scheduled stream. You can watch a channel trailer for a streamer by using the Watch Trailer button (if they have one).
Twitch will put these buttons to the test “over the following month.” The buttons will be removed once the test is completed.B
