A Gator’s Fan Has a Dream Coming True Thanks to a Sylvester Family

Look at these smiles! How wonderful is this? Sylvester’s own Daniel Walls did a great thing, gave back to someone in need and made his day, matter of fact, made his year. His name is Mr. Floyd Jones of Moultrie. His family reached out to the viewing area through WALB by asking for help to get Mr. Jones to the Florida/FSU game. You see, Mr. Jones has stage 4 stomach cancer. There’s not much he wishes for except to see his Gators play in person for the first time. Me, being a Gator fan thinks this is the most awesome thing ever and not too big of a wish either. Daniel has season passes to the Gator games and gave his up for that particular game so that Mr. Jones could go. That is what you call a true Gator Fan…Helping others to see the game! Mr. Floyd’s wife, Mrs. Wanda is s excited for her husband. He loves his Gators she said. WALB stated that after they aired the story about Mr. Jones, he received numerous phone calls from people wanting to help. Along with the tickets that Daniel gave to Mr. Jones, the University of Florida also is providing Mr. Jones tickets to the homecoming game against Vanderbilt. Mr. Jones will also get to meet the players and is now an official member of the Gator Fan Club. Mr. Jones told WALB that he wanted to say thanks to everybody. “The outpouring has been tremendous and I appreciate everything you guys are doing for us” stated Mr. Jones. “From day minute, we got responses and I’m just so happy his dreams are coming true” stated Wanda Jones-wife “He’s been smiling ever since, like a kid in a candy store.” Thank you Daniel for helping the Jones family and thank you to Heather, Daniel’s wife for supporting such a great man. You two have done a wonderful thing for this man and have made friends for life.

Me on the Map

Students in Ms. Kuck’s first grade class at Worth County Primary School have been studying where they live in their “Me on the Map” unit. Students brought in pictures and items that represent Sylvester, Worth Co., Georgia, and the USA. Students also worked together to build a 3-D map of Sylvester. In this interactive project, students also learned the importance of working together as a team. Way to go, Ms. Kuck!

Primary School Students Learn About Rocks

Worth County Primary School students in Mrs. Griffis’ class enjoyed exploring rocks last week.  What better way to learn about rocks then with food!  They made a “sedimentary rock” snack to understand how they are formed with layers. Through a science experiment they discovered that most rocks sink, but since pumice rocks have air holes… they will float! Rocks are so much fun!!!! Kudos to Mrs. Griffis for making learning fun!

Snackin’ with Sumner

Sumner City Clerk was all smiles just a few weeks ago when Lady Liberty from Liberty Tax Service popped by to see her hard at work and give her a few snacks.  Milissa Dobbins, Sumner City Hall enjoyed seeing Lady Liberty and was excited that Liberty Tax Service would be having an office soon in Sylvester.

Smiles for Dr. Sauls

Lady Liberty stopped by recently to drop off a few treats for Dr. Sauls and his staff.  Taking care of your teeth is very important to Dr. Sauls and his staff.  They want their patients to know you can enjoy treats and take care of your teeth at the same time.  If you don’t have a regular dentist at this time, give Dr. Sauls office a call and they will be glad to set you up an appointment.  Thank you to Dr. Sauls and his staff for the great job they do!

Banana’s for everyone

Looked who stopped by the Shipp Senior Center and dropped off banana’s for their participants?  You guessed it.  It was Lady Liberty with the community outreach team from Liberty Tax Service.  The outreach team wanted the participants to enjoy National Banana Day with them!  Liberty Tax Service will soon be opening an office in Sylvester and wants to be a vital part of the community.  The outreach team is excited to join in with the community.
